Terms of Use

1. General provisions

The Service lets you turn a long URL into a short one, share it and see statistics for the clicks it receives. The Service is operated by the person named in section 13 (the "Operator").

These terms take effect the moment you first use the Service and stay in force for as long as you keep using it. Acceptance is complete and unconditional: partial acceptance is not possible.

2. Definitions

"User" — any person using the Service, with or without an account. "Short link" — the URL the Service issues for a destination address you supply. "Destination" — the page a short link points to. "Account" — the personal area you get after registering.

3. What the Service does

The core of the Service is provided free of charge. Some features are available on a paid subscription under section 13. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, with no promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for any particular purpose of yours.

Registered users additionally get link management and click statistics, including totals, unique clicks, dates and the country a click came from.

4. Accounts

To register you supply a valid email address and a password. You are responsible for keeping your credentials and API tokens secret and for everything done through your account.

Tell the Operator without delay if you suspect someone else has access to your account. One person may not create accounts in order to evade a restriction imposed on an earlier one.

5. Acceptable use

You must not use the Service to create links leading to material that is unlawful, or that: distributes malware; carries out phishing or any other attempt to obtain credentials, payment data or personal information by deception; sends unsolicited bulk messages (spam); infringes intellectual property or privacy rights; incites violence, hatred or terrorism; involves sexual content featuring minors; or promotes fraudulent financial schemes.

You must not attempt to disrupt the Service: no automated load beyond ordinary use, no circumventing limits or protections, no probing for vulnerabilities without written permission, no scraping of other users' data.

The Service must not be used to hide the destination of a link from the person clicking it in order to deceive them.

6. Your links, your responsibility

You alone are responsible for the destinations you shorten and for the consequences of sharing your short links. The Operator does not moderate destinations in advance and does not endorse them.

The Operator is not a party to your relationship with the people who click your links and does not verify the accuracy, legality or safety of the content you point them to.

7. Availability and changes

The Operator may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service, run maintenance, and introduce or adjust usage limits, without prior notice where circumstances require it.

The Operator does not guarantee any particular level of availability and does not undertake to keep a short link working forever.

8. Blocking and deletion

The Operator may disable a short link or an account, without prior notice and without compensation, where it has reason to believe these terms have been broken, where a lawful demand from an authority or a rights holder is received, or where the Service is being used in a way that endangers other users.

You can delete any of your links, or your entire account, at any time from your personal area. Deleting a link stops it resolving; the click records tied to it are removed with it.

9. Personal data

To run the Service the Operator processes: the email address you register with, the destinations you shorten, and, for each click, the time, the IP address, the browser user agent, the referring page and the country derived from the IP address. Private IP ranges are not resolved to a location.

The data is used to provide the Service, produce your statistics, keep the Service secure and comply with the law. It is not sold. It may be disclosed to hosting and geolocation providers acting on the Operator's instructions, or to authorities where the law requires it.

The Service uses cookies that are necessary for sign-in, security (CSRF protection) and remembering your language and theme.

You may request access to your data, its correction or its deletion by writing to the address in section 14. Deleting your account deletes the links and click records attached to it.

10. Intellectual property

The Service, its software, design and name belong to the Operator. Nothing in these terms transfers any right in them to you.

Content you supply stays yours. You grant the Operator only the right to store and process it as far as it takes to operate the Service.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Operator is not liable for lost profit, lost data, loss of reputation or any indirect damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Service — including the unavailability of a short link, the loss of statistics, or the actions of third parties.

The Operator's aggregate liability is limited to what you paid for the Service in the three months before the event giving rise to it. On the free plan that amount is zero, unless the law says otherwise.

You agree to reimburse the Operator for losses caused by claims from third parties that arise out of your links or your breach of these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

The Operator may amend these terms. The current version is always published on this page, with the date at the top. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the new version.

13. Paid plans and payment

Some features — lifting the cap on the number of links, connecting your own domains, choosing your own slugs and the full statistics history — are available on a paid subscription. The plans and their prices are published on the site and may change; the current version is always on the pricing page.

Subscriptions are handled by a payment provider. Card details are entered on the provider's side and are neither transmitted to nor stored by the Operator.

A subscription renews automatically for each following period and is charged on the renewal date until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your account; the period already paid for runs to its end, after which the account returns to the free plan.

If you are in the European Union you may withdraw within 14 days of subscribing. By starting to use the paid features before that period ends you agree that performance begins immediately and give up the right of withdrawal for the part already performed.

A refund for the unused part of a paid period can be requested at the address in section 14 where the paid features have not in fact been used. Refunds are made by the same means as the payment.

If a charge fails, access to the paid features continues while the payment provider retries. If payment ultimately does not go through, the account returns to the free plan. Short links created earlier keep resolving and counting clicks in any case — the limits apply only to creating new ones.

14. Operator and contact details

Operator: 1href. Written enquiries, complaints about a link and data requests: support@1href.com. The Operator answers within 30 days of receipt.

Disputes are resolved through negotiation; failing that, in the court having jurisdiction at the Operator's location, under the law applicable there.
